Classroom Library

Reading independently FOR FUN helps students develop skills that they will use both in & out of the classroom.   Together, as a class, we will make it a goal to participate in SSR (Silent Sustained Reading) every day.  This is a time for students to relax (not sleep!) & enjoy reading; students will never be quizzed or asked to compile a book report as I believe that's counterintuitive to developing a love of reading!  They will, however, be encouraged to share with friends, family members, & anyone who will listen about whatever great new book they find.

It's important to maintain an eclectic classroom library so that everyone can find something that appeals to them.  Below is a list of the books that I offer for SSR; please note that books must remain in my classroom as I offer SSR to multiple sections of students & I want everyone to be able to choose from a wide selection.

Throughout the year, I will post any ongoing Donors Choose fundraisers on this page; if you are able to donate, we would really appreciate your support!  Donors Choose helps our class raise funds to buy designated supplies.  My page is www.donorschoose.com/livezjess -- books marked with an asterisk (*) were purchased through a Donors Choose project -- all others have been donated from my generous friends & family, or purchased by me.

If you have any books that you'd like to donate, we will gladly make a home for them!  Please note that the content should be appropriate for a Young Adult environment.  If you have any questions about whether the book you'd like to donate is appropriate, feel free to email me: misslivezey@gmail.com.
