Fully Funded

Last week, I posted about my first Donors Choose project. 6 days later, I'm writing again to inform you that the project has been fully funded. I'm posting the thank you note here because I think it's important to reiterate how grateful I am not only for the funding, but also how much I value the opportunity to be in a profession that allows me to connect with people & participate in something that is much bigger than myself.

"Thank you all so much for helping to build a classroom library, a resource that will help connect my students to the outside world while providing a daily escape when life feels too heavy.

As a teacher at a Title I school, I feel responsible for trying to give my kids a fair shot at becoming successful, not only in the classroom, but also beyond graduation in the "real world". Your investment in their education shows them that they are cared for and supported, and that people are rooting for them before they even step foot in the classroom. Every student deserves an advocate, and my students have a whole team -- I can't begin to tell you how empowering that is, not only for my students, but also for me as a teacher.

I cannot find the words to accurately convey my gratitude, so I will leave you with my favorite quote ... know that your donation has added a bit of magic to my classroom and to the lives of all of the students who will enter for years to come:

"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."

Roald Dahl

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

With gratitude,
Ms. Livezey"

In addition to posting the thank you note, I just want to take the time to comment on how awesome the internet is -- through the power of social media, I was able to receive support from friends, family members, one of my own teachers from high school, & even a real life rock star.  Today has been one of the best days of my life & I am so honored for all the support. I can't wait to share how these books impact my students!
