Counterargument: Day 1

By now, your Counterargument Outline should be finished -- you should have identified your counterargument & found three supporting details with real world examples.  If you haven't done this, you're behind!

My expectation for you today is to finish your introductory paragraph & start on your first supporting detail paragraph (your second paragraph in the essay).  Your supporting detail paragraph should include an example that reinforces the supporting detail.

We will be in the lab for the next 3 days.  By the end of the block on Thursday, you should have completely finished your final draft of your counterargument.  We will follow the same requirements as outlined for your original argumentative paper:
  • 5 paragraphs.
  • An INTERESTING argument that can come to stasis.
  • Claim presented in the first paragraph.
  • 3 supporting details (with examples).
  • 1 quote (from a source).
  • Conclusion summarizes the argument & leaves me something to think about!

Be sure to save your file as yourlastname.yourfirstname.livezey.counterarg

If you do not save your file as requested, then do not complain when you inevitably lose it!

Any questions?  Ask two neighbors first, then raise your hand.  Do not get out of your seats.

As always, my expecatations in the lab are:

  • No food (this includes anything semi-solid that you put in your mouth that isn't air)
  • No drink (this includes anything liquid that you put in your mouth that isn't air)
  • No personal technology (phones, iPods, iPads, Kindles, Game Boys, etc.)
  • No shenanigans -- this includes getting out of your seat, playing with volume controls on the sound system, playing with projector controls; basically don't touch anything except for your mouse, keyboard, computer, & monitor
  • I reserve the right to come at you like a spider monkey at any time
