HERE IS THE LINK TO THE TARGET THANK YOU PAGE!
YOUR FINAL DRAFT IS DUE TODAY!
Here are some common issues I've noticed in rough drafts -- make sure you check over your paper in order to avoid point deductions!
- Bad formatting. We've gone over formatting requirements a thousand times, but I'm still seeing no headers/headers in the wrong spot, incorrect headers, incorrect/varied fonts, incorrect/varied size, incorrect/varied styles (NO COLORS, BOLD, ITALICS, OR UNDERLINE!). Your essay should be double spaced! Any questions on this? CLICK HERE.
- Spelling/grammatical errors that could easily be avoided with the use of Microsoft's spell check. It takes 10 seconds, people. USE IT!
- Subject/verb agreement -- this is a common issue because texting/music/casual conversation reinforces incorrect agreements. We've talked about code switching before -- you can't talk the same way in an essay as you do with your friends. Make sure if your subject is a plural that the verb respects that. Example: "Lots of schools
ishaving issues." It should be "Lots of schools are having issues." - Lack of supporting details/examples: every essay should have 3 supporting details. Each supporting detail should have an example that reinforces the supporting detail.
- YOUUUUU -- Hi, please don't address me in the essay. YOU keep saying YOU like the essay applies to ME but it doesn't apply to ME. Rephrase it so that YOU'RE not saying YOU every other word (or at all, really).
- Plagiarism: if you get information from a website & you use a quote but don't put it in quotes, or you quote it but don't add the source, or you summarize information you got from that website in your own words without adding the source, THAT'S PLAGIARISM! Give people credit!
