DJ Khaled Rhetorical Appeals -- Identify the rhetorical appeals used in this article (ethos, logos, pathos).
DJ Khaled Poster -- create a poster that promotes Andrews High School from DJ Khaled's perspective.
My First Conk Annotations -- Print and annotate based on the annotation handout I gave you (in your notebook).
My First Conk Analysis -- Print and answer the questions.
Black History Month WW -- Complete the Writing Wednesday essay at the bottom. 3 paragraphs!

English IV Current Events

  1. Find a current event from a CREDIBLE news source. By credible, I mean a reliable source that is well known. A few examples would be CNN, MSNBC, Fox, Time, The New York Times, Al Jazeera, BBC News, etc.
  2. Print out the article.
  3. Open a new Word document.
  4. Copy and paste the following questions into the document and answer them:
    • Summarize this current event in your own words.
    • Why did you choose this current event?
    • How does this current event affect you? Even if something happens on the other side of the world, it can still affect you. Connect the dots for me and tell me why this current event matters to you/the rest of the world!
    • Do you think this current event will have any further impact?
  5. Save the document in the following format -- go to my folder (LIVEZEY) and save as yourlastname.yourfirstinitial.currentevent.0212
  6. Make sure your name is at the top and print out your response.

AVID This I Believe

This I Believe Essay Requirements
  • Focused on Andrews.
  • If it addresses a problem, you focus on possible solutions.
  • If it is more positive, you focus on how we can get better.
  • Include a minimum of 3 supporting details/examples to support your claim.
  • Keep it interesting.
  • 1 page requirement, Times New Roman 12 pt.
This is going to be the FIRST PAGE of your Senior Legacy Book -- it will be the first thing that your audience sees and it will set the tone for your whole book.

Year By Year Outline
  • For each year, I want you to list at least 5 topics that you will address.
  • These can be focused on academic life, social life, college prep life, etc.
  • REMEMBER -- you are an AVID senior ... you should incorporate an AVID strategy for each year! It doesn't have to be as AVID-aligned as WICOR or Cornell Notes, but it has to have a college focus.

If you show me that you completed the review and you didn't cheat, I will give you a free 100% quiz grade. I must check you off for completion in order for you to receive credit. You cannot talk.
